Our parish school, grades K4 - 8th grade,
strives to educate our students with the skills necessary for lifelong
academic, social, and spiritual growth, all within the context of
Christian values. Our school hours
are 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. We offer a full day K4 program with a
half-day option and a full day K5 program. After School Care is also
available. St. Catherine School participates in the Milwaukee Parental
Choice Program. The enrollment of St. Catherine School is about 140 students and our class size average is 13 students. One of our greatest strengths is the diversity of the student body. Our staff consists of twelve Wisconsin certified teachers and two teacher aides. In addition to the school’s regular curriculum covering religion, reading, language arts, math, social studies, science, art, and health, our students receive instruction in music, physical education, and technology twice a week. We have both a computer lab and a science lab. The students and staff celebrate the liturgy once per week and have monthly prayer services. Religion is taught daily and prayer is an integral part of each school day. Please contact the school office for information and/or a tour of St. Catherine School. Linda Kuhn, Principal Northwest Catholic Athletics The grade school athletic program for St. Catherine
Parish members is administrated by the tri-parish Northwest Catholic
Athletic Association (NCAA). The
association is staffed by volunteers from St. Catherine, St. Bernadette,
and Our Lady of Good Hope parishes.
The Northwest Catholic Athletic programs promote the growth and
development of Catholic moral principles by emphasizing fun, teamwork,
learning and self-satisfaction through the experience of competition. There are 7 sports offered through the NCAA.
These include:
§
Volleyball ( Girls
grades 5-8 and Coed High School CYM) Eligibility for all sports is in accordance with Milwaukee Archdioceses guidelines requiring all participants to either be attending one of the day school programs at the parish schools or be parish members and actively attending one of the Religious Education programs. Detailed information for participants is available through the school offices in the Northwest Catholic Athletic Handbook. There are many opportunities for parish members
interested in sharing their talents and time to assist with the various
athletic teams or committees.
There are approximately 50 teams involved in the seven sports each
school year. Volunteers are
needed to staff concession stands, coach, assist coaches, coordinate a
sport, or serve on the 18 member NCAA board. Those working with children
need to attend a sexual abuse awareness training session as mandated by
the Archdiocese.
