STAFF BIOGRAPHIES

 

Debra Hintz
Parish Director

Debbie has been the parish director of St. Catherine since July 1, 2006, an    appointment made by Archbishop Timothy Dolan. Parish Director is the title used in the Milwaukee Archdiocese for laity and deacons who lead a parish in place of a priest. In her role, she is responsible for the overall life of the parish. She provides spiritual leadership and pastoral care to parishioners, oversees the general operation of the parish, and coordinates the ministries of worship, education, human concerns, and administration.   

Debbie has a B.A. in elementary education from Mount Mary College and a M.A. in pastoral ministry from Boston College. After obtaining her B.A. in 1977, she taught jr. high at St. Margaret Mary, Milwaukee, for three years. She continued to minister at St. Margaret Mary until 1988 as pastoral minister. She then served as pastoral associate at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in New Berlin for 4½ years and at St. Matthias, Milwaukee, for 13 years. Debbie is also the author of three books of prayer services, the most recent, Near Us and Within Us, published in 2006.

Fr. Richard Mirsberger
Assisting Priest

Fr. Dick is a native of Sheboygan. He entered the seminary right out of eighth grade. He spent his high school years and the first two years of college at Salvatorian Seminary in St. Nazianz, WI. He then transferred to St. Francis Seminary for two years of philosophy and four years of theology. On May 28th of 1966, he was ordained by Archbishop William E. Cousins.  

Over the next forty-two years he ministered in four parishes. He began as an associate at St. Joseph Parish in Fond du Lac for seven years, and then moved to St. Margaret Mary Parish in Milwaukee for the next eight years. In 1981 he was named pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Wauwatosa where he ministered for twelve years. Then in 1993 he was assigned as pastor of St. Rita Parish in West Allis where he retired from full-time ministry in June 2008. He joined the staff at St. Catherine as one of our assisting priests in August 2008.

Fr. Joseph Hornacek
Assisting Priest

Fr. Joe joined our staff as assisting priest the weekend of August 1, 2010. He grew up in Kenosha and entered St. Francis Seminary at the age of 14. He is a classmate of Fr. Dick's; they were ordained in 1966. Fr. Joe has been privileged to enjoy a variety of careers as a diocesan priest. He first served as assistant pastor at Immaculate Conception Parish, West Bend. He then served on the staff at the seminary and was the Executive Secretary of the Priests Personnel Board. In 1983 he became pastor at St. Mark, Kenosha. He left there in 1995 to become pastor at Sacred Heart Parish, Racine. From 1998-2004 he again worked in the archdiocesan offices as Vicar for Clergy and Vicar General. In 2004 he began a six-year term as pastor of St. Anthony on the Lake, Pewaukee. Fr. Joe retired from full-time ministry in June 2010.

Nicole Fastabend
Director of Christian Formation

Nicole joined our staff in July 2008. She is responsible for the grade school and high school religious education programs as well as sacramental preparation and youth ministry. She also works with other staff in developing adult formation opportunities.  

Nicole is a recent graduate from Marquette University. She received a Bachelor of Arts in both Theology and Philosophy in spring 2008. During her senior year, Nicole served as the Youth Minister at Casa Romero, an outreach and retreat center on Milwaukee’s south side. In addition to her time at Casa Romero, Nicole has directed retreats and volunteered in youth ministry activities in the archdiocese throughout her college career.

James D. Stout
Director of Liturgy and Music

Jim joined the staff at St. Catherine in July 2007. He is the principle musician of the parish, providing music leadership on organ and piano at all parish liturgies as well as directing the Adult Choir and the Children’s Choir. He also coordinates the involvement of various instrumentalists in music ministry. In addition, Jim also coordinates all liturgical planning and all liturgical ministries. He is also involved in adult formation, RCIA and all sacramental preparation processes.

Jim holds a BA in Theology with a minor in Philosophy from St. Francis de Sales Seminary, Milwaukee, WI, an MA in Theology with specific emphasis in Liturgical Studies from the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN and a BFA in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee. He has served as Director of Liturgy and Music for 20 years in Catholic parishes throughout the Midwest.

Jim and his wife, Mary, have four children and one grandson. They live on the family farm in Germantown, WI.

Dan Zozakiewicz
Deacon

Dan has been ministering at St. Catherine since October of 2006. His primary responsibility is pastoral care. He visits the sick, the homebound and those residing in health care centers. He also works with parishioners who join him in this ministry. In addition, Dan oversees our bereavement ministry. He also serves as deacon at one Mass each weekend.

Dan was ordained in June 1994. Prior to coming to St. Catherine, he served as deacon at Holy Family in Whitefish Bay for 5 years and St. Robert in Shorewood for 7 years. He and his wife, Bobby, live in Brown Deer. They had four children.

Shari Brennan
Director of Administrative Services

Shari became the Director of Administrative Services at St. Catherine in May 2007 after serving as the parish secretary and bookkeeper for nine years. She works with parish finances, buildings and grounds, and personnel matters. She and her husband, Mike, have been members of St. Catherine since 1978. Their five sons all graduated from St. Catherine School.

Gail K. Anshus
Parish Administrative Assistant

Gail joined the parish staff as Parish Administrative Assistant in September 2009. She serves as receptionist, bulletin editor, calendar coordinator, and provides support for parish staff and volunteers.

Gail earned her BA in public relations at Mount Mary College and her MA in educational foundations at Marquette University. She brings skills from serving the Advancement Department of Marquette University and the Major Gift Department of Children's Hospital and Health System Foundation.

Her grown sons are Paul, a Milwaukee Manpower employee, and Matthew, a Credit Suisse employee in Brooklyn, NY, who is the father of granddaughter Lydia.
