NORTHWEST CATHOLIC ATHLETICS
The grade school athletic program for St. Catherine
Parish members is administrated by the tri-parish Northwest Catholic
Athletic Association (NCAA). The
association is staffed by volunteers from St. Catherine, St. Bernadette,
and Our Lady of Good Hope parishes.
The Northwest Catholic Athletic programs promote the growth and
development of Catholic moral principles by emphasizing fun, teamwork,
learning and self-satisfaction through the experience of competition.
There are 7 sports offered through the NCAA. These include:
▪
Volleyball ( Girls
grades 5-8 and Coed High School CYM)
▪ Soccer (Coed grades
K5-4, Coed Grades 5-8)
▪
Basketball (Girls
grades 5-8 and Boys grades 5-8)
▪
Spring Softball
(Girls grades 5-8)
▪
Track (Coed grades 5-8)
▪
Summer Softball
(Coed grades 3-6)
▪
Summer T-Ball (Coed
grades K4-2)
Eligibility for all sports is in accordance with
Milwaukee Archdioceses guidelines requiring all participants to either
be attending one of the day school programs at the parish schools or be
parish members and actively attending one of the Religious Education
programs. Detailed information for
participants is available through the school offices in the Northwest
Catholic Athletic Handbook.
There are many opportunities for parish members
interested in sharing their talents and time to assist with the various
athletic teams or committees.
There are approximately 50 teams involved in the seven sports each
school year. Volunteers are
needed to staff concession stands, coach, assist coaches, coordinate a
sport, or serve on the 18 member NCAA board. Those working with children
need to attend a sexual abuse awareness training session as mandated by
the Archdiocese.
